Artem Lobov was supposed to fight against Ylies Djiroun to win the lightweight title in the main event of Arena Fight 2 in France on Saturday. But as several staff members of the promotion got tested positive with COVID-19, the entire event got postponed.
The European MMA promotion Arena Fight Championship announced their decision to postpone the event in a recent press release. The event was about to take place on the 12th of December of this year.
They said that “This postponement follows the detection last weekend of six COVID-19 cases within the teams of the group.
We have therefore put in place measures to ensure the continuity of our operations such as the isolation of positive people and contact cases, the implementation of teleworking for all team members, and the obligation to carry out PCR tests on Monday, December 7th for all our employees.”

They further said that following the wave of COVID-19 tests, they have already come across 20 positive cases in the organization, and they are still waiting for some of the results. The rest of the employees came in contact with the positive cases, which are preventing them from making this event happen to keep everyone safe.
Since 2018, this is for the first time when Artem Lobov decided to make his return, as he made a unanimous decision after his loss against Michael Johnson at the UFC fight night: Volkan vs. Smith. The last time when Artem performed was in the bare-knuckle fight in BKFC in 2019.
Artem Lobov is quite close to the former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor. As McGregor is going to make his return in 2021 against Dustin Poirier, Lobov said that the Irish gentleman would definitely make a victorious return just like the first time. Lobov claimed that McGregor is going to prove himself tough against Poirier, which is going to be tough for him to handle.
